In case you have joined us after the world cup or been here, I welcome you to the family!! Here are some headups I wish I had known and that will make your experience a lot more enjoyable.

1. Support whatever team you want. At first you won’t be sure which one is the best for you or realize that you prefer other after time…perfect! Some live up to their teams’ motto word by word, others don’t. It takes time to get to know your club, the important thing is to feel excitement while watching them and feel like you have found a second home.
2. Popular blogs shouldn’t intimidate you. There are fandom or team famous blogs that will appear frequently and maybe you will feel the need to agree with their opinions, have their validation or believe everything they say cause hey! They’re important!! but we are all as valuable. They may have very important things to say but don’t take it as gospel, the best thing is to listen, learn and shape your own point of view.
3. Create, create, create! Post original content, whether it’s photos, gifsets, writing, drawings or memes, don’t feel shy about them, we really appreciate it. Talking about it…
4. Notes don’t determine you. It doesn’t mean we don’t love you or think you’re     talented, maybe you just need to make it more visible
5. Take media with common sense. Transfer news, interviews, translations are dangerous as they’re taken out of context quite commonly and made to sell. Do your research, ask for opinions, discuss it and INFORM YOURSELF.
6. We need to separate banter from bigotry. We LOVE teasing rival teams and it’s a part of the fun of here but jokes are one thing and cruelty or shaming is other and will NEVER be funny. Being rude doesn’t make you look cool.

But Carly! Someone was saying my fav player looks like a cabbage and smells bad!!… their opinion, an inoffensive joke. (and he probably does :/) But Carly! Someone is racist/ xenophobic/ ableist/ homophobic! … that is terrible! Let’s explain the user and everyone why it was wrong and if they don’t understand, the unfollow, block or report button is free :) 

But wait! I committed a mistake and learned from it. Amazing, we all make mistakes and are here to learn as well as teach. It’s not your mistake that defines you but your reaction to it

That said, I hope we can have a peaceful football season and more people joining this fandom that creates friendships, networks and tons of fun.

Welcome to the football fandom! Welcome, you will love it and hate it sometimes, you will have fun and will also suffer a lot, you will celebrate and cry, but overall, you will learn A LOT about team work l, professionalism, loyalty and love. Enjoy it
